Packaging directive

Packaging and shipping guidelines for suppliers to Castfast GmbH

1. scope of application

This guideline applies to all deliveries to Castfast GmbH, in particular castings and production parts in accordance with the orders submitted.

2. delivery bills & labeling

– Two delivery bills must be enclosed per packing unit – clearly visible on the outside and protected from the weather (e.g. in a transparent bag).
– Each delivery bill contains at least: CASTFAST order number, CASTFAST order number, CASTFAST article/part number, drawing number according to the order document, quantity, description, sender, recipient.
– Each package must be clearly labeled: unique package number, weight, dimensions and handling instructions such as “Caution fragile”, “Do not stack” or “Top side”.

3. packaging & padding

Smaller consignments (< 30 kg):

– Use sturdy, undamaged cardboard packaging.
– Inner padding with shock-absorbing materials (e.g. bubble wrap, packaging chips, foam).
– The interior must not contain any cavities that allow movement during transportation.
– Additionally secure the outer packaging with protective foil or securely sealed adhesive tape.

Heavier consignments (≥ 30 kg):

– Packaging on a pallet (see section 4) is mandatory.
– The inner and outer packaging must be suitable for the mass and stability of the goods.
– Sharp-edged or sensitive parts must be secured separately (e.g. with edge protection, foam supports, corrugated cardboard inserts).

General:
– Packaging must provide protection against:
– mechanical loads (impact, vibration),
– environmental influences (humidity, temperature) and
– corrosion (for bare metal parts).
– Sensitive surfaces must be additionally secured if necessary.
– Packaging consisting exclusively of stretch film may not be used.

4. palletizing & securing

– From a weight of 30 kg per package, palletizing is required.
– Standardized Euro or disposable pallets are permitted.
– Goods must not protrude over the edge of the pallet.
– They are positioned centrally and evenly on the pallet.
– The goods must be secured with suitable securing means (e.g. tension belts, strapping). Stretch film alone is not sufficient.
– Sharp-edged goods must be provided with edge protection – especially at the contact points with belts.
– Optionally, additional protective devices such as pallet caps can be used to prevent stacking by third parties.

5. weight & dimensions

– Max. Weight per non-palletized package: 30 kg (higher weights only with approval).
– Max. Weight per pallet: 950 kg, in exceptional cases up to 1,000 kg (for pallet cages).
– Max. Pallet height: 1,050 mm. Higher pallets only after consultation.
– The weight must be indicated visibly on the delivery bill and on the package.

6. environmental & disposal requirements

– All packaging must be recyclable and legally compliant in accordance with the German Packaging Act (VerpackG).
– The amount of packaging must be reduced to the necessary amount without jeopardizing transport safety.
– Reusable packaging should be preferred if it is economically and practically feasible.

7. deviations & special regulations

– Deviations from this guideline are only permitted with the written consent of Castfast.
– Individual packaging concepts must be agreed in advance for particularly large, sensitive or technically complex deliveries.
